Renzi to Fedez: "Meloni is telling lies about the Paragon case, the State has betrayed the journalists it spied on"

Matteo Renzi launched a harsh attack on Giorgia Meloni during her participation in Fedez and Marra's podcast "Pulp", speaking about the Paragon case. The former prime minister denounced the scandal of wiretaps using the Graphite spyware, sold to Italy by the Israeli company Paragon, accusing the government of failing to protect the journalists being spied on. "We spend billions and then we allow them to enter our cell phones? It's no longer a democracy," said Renzi, referring to journalists Ciro Pellegrino, Francesco Cancellato and Roberto D'Agostino. He then attacked Meloni directly: "The state must also protect those it dislikes." And he emphasized that it was Apple and Meta who reported the espionage, not the government. "A farce worthy of the secret services used against citizens," he concluded.
